We work to enhance the lives of BC’s children who don’t qualify for
government services—but who are in need. We also strive to create,
build, and strengthen family support and community-based resources
to empower families to help provide the best possible care for their
children. The Western Society for Children also maintains a resource
library for parents, a website full of helpful information, and a
semi-annual newsletter.
Knowledge & Awareness
Community Education
Request one of our employees or volunteers to come and speak
to a group of people interested in disability issues. We can talk
about Western Society for Children or disability issues in general.

Online Forum
We hope to open up opportunities for sharing experience, information,

Developing Abilities Academic Support
Activity Programs
We develop projects that allow the children to be socially
active, physical, and build friendships
Play Therapy
We will soon have a fun, multi-sensory room with different
types of equipment and toys. Parents can have the option to be engaged
in floor time activities, access peer support and knowledge, take
a break, or work quietly, knowing the child is having fun and taken
care of. This room is designated to create an environment that works
with a smaller group; it works for you and around your needs. If your
child needs extra support, it is available here.
Youth Independence
Accessible Career Experience
This project offers on-site work skills support for youth
and provides the youth a chance to be involved in the community. We
create a supportive, non competitive, understanding workplace that
models what it is like in the workforce. We appreciate your strengths
and facilitate the development of your skills.
Tutoring
We have a tutor who personalizes curriculum and teaching
methods to work with the individual strengths of the children.
